CPN-UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel has said the Nepali Congress hoodwinked the CPN (Maoist Centre) and the agitating Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal by postponing the polls in Province 2.
The UML leader said the NC had decided to postpone the elections after its assessment of the party’s “weak” position there. “The RJP-N was used to fulfil the vested interests of the NC,” he said.
He claimed that the RJP-N and the Election Commission had reservations about the government’s decision.
The NC did not even consult with the main opposition while deciding to postpone the elections, Pokharel said.
