The Cabinet meeting held after the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba's consultation with the commissioners of Election Commission has decided to make official proposal for the third phase of local polls.
After vigorous discussions with the top leaders of agitating Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal (RJP-N), the ruling coalition had made a political decision to postpone the local polls of Province 2 and provide few days for the RJP-N to prepare for the polls to be held on June 28 by revising the election process.
The Cabinet also decided to propose the EC to revise the date of nomination delaying the scheduled date of June 16 to June 18.
Meanwhile the RJP-N that was seeking government's official decision about the postponement of the local polls of Province 2 through cabinet would come up with its official reaction over the decision.
Leader Brikhesh Chandra Lal said the meeting of the RJP-N would come up with the official decision after the government comes up with its official decision on postponement of local polls of Province 2.
As per the discussions with the ruling coalition, the RJP-N is expected to stall all the protest plans and begin preparations for the polls.
