The EC also said its serious attention has been drawn to an incident in Saptari in which RJP-N supporters detained 55 election staffers for more than an hour.
The EC’s security concern comes two days ahead of nomination filing date for elections. According to Election Commissioner Ishwori Prasad Poudyal, top security and government officials told the EC that security forces were exercising maximum restraint considering the ongoing efforts to bring the RJP-N on board the poll process.
According to a press statement issued by the EC, Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav urged the government to ensure credible security arrangement for candidate nomination and election activities.
