The apex court on Thursday scrapped a petition against imminent recommendation of Acting Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli to the top judicial post.
A single bench of Justice Purushottam Bhandari scrapped the petition arguing that no evidence was found against Parajuli’s academic degrees and his age as claimed by the petitioner.
After the SC move, Parajuli’s path to become the chief justice has been cleared. He assumed office as the acting CJ on Wednesday after the retirement of Sushila Karki.
Advocate Bikash Giri had lodged the petition naming the Office of the President, the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee, Justice Parajuli, the Constitutional Council and the Judicial Council as the defendants.
