The EC on Saturday decided to hold re-election in the metropolis after 90 ballots were torn allegedly by CPN (Maoist Centre) cadres on May 28.
UML was holding its Standing Committee meeting when the EC announced its decision today. The UML meeting was discussing whether to obstruct the Parliament on Sunday or field its own candidate for the prime minister post.
The PM election is scheduled to convene on Sunday after PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal resigned last week honouring a deal made with the NC in the past.
Following the EC decision, the UML has said that it will protest the EC decision and continue to obstruct the House sessions.
