Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the next government will be formed under the leadership of Nepali Congress.

Speaking during the Parliamentary Party meet of the CPN (Maoist Centre) on Wednesday, PM Dahal said that parleys were underway to form a consensus government. However, PM Dahal said given the current political situation the formation of consensus government was highly unlikely.

“We are holding discussion but forming a consensus government seems unlikely,” said PM Dahal, “The next government will be formed under the leadership of NC.”

The deadline to form a consensus government will end on Wednesday midnight.

PM Dahal, during the meeting, said that the second phase of local polls had been rescheduled to June 28 keeping in view the Ramdan festival the Muslim community is observing. He further expressed his belief that the agitating Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal will also take part in the polls.
