An unidentified group has robbed the ballot boxes at Naraharinath Village Council in Kalikot district on Sunday.
According to Nepal Police Headquarters, police personnel were taking the ballot boxes to the vote counting station when the incident occurred.
Police are yet to establish the number of ballot boxes robbed in the Municipality.
Police suspect that the Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist cadres might have robbed the ballot boxes.
Plain-clothed police personnel, who were taking the ballot boxes to the vote counting station, have also gone out of contact.
The Nepal Police Headquarters has deployed police and Nepali Army personnel to the incident site.
