The Tribeni checkpoint along the Nepal-India border in Nawalparasi district is to be closed in view of the May 14 local level elections.
The checkpoint will be closed from 9:00 am on Saturday, 24 hours before the commencement of the elections, according to Nawalparasi Chief District Officer Uday Bahadur Rana.
It is noted that a bilateral security meeting held in Bihar recently decided to close the point before the elections, the local administration said.
The meeting also agreed to intensify security checks along the border before 48 hours of the elections.
The first phase of local level elections is taking place in 34 districts in Province 3, 4 and 6. RSS
