A CPN-UML cadre has been shot at by a CPN (Maoist Centre) cadre at Helaucha in Bhojpur municipality-1 on Thursday evening.

CPN (MC) cadre Ekindra Bhujel, 38, fired from his rifle at UML cadre Sharda Tamang, 34, while the latter was taking a stroll in a nearby jungle. Police have arrested Bhujel along with the weapon and investigation is underway regarding the incident, informed Bhojpur DSP Kaji Kumar Acharya.

According to eyewitnesses, Tamang was shot at as he fell on the ground while trying to duck after seeing Bhujel with the weapon.

It is learnt that Tamang and Bhujel had political animosity from a long time.

Meanwhile, CPN-UML has condemned the shooting of its cadre saying that such acts at a time when the local level elections are at the doorstep is an attempt to foil the elections. They have demanded strong action against the perpetrator.
