Seven Nepalis, including a woman and her one-year-old old, who were rescued and sheltered at the Embassy of Nepal in Kuala Lumpur have returned home.
Sujita Kumari Singh Chauhan of Itahari-8, Sunsari and her one-year-old son Simon Kumar Singh; Sosil Kumar Sahani of Bathanaha-4, Siraha; Dipendra Bahadur Khadka of Pranamipur-6, Sarahi; Sukman Tamang of Birendranagar-8, Chitwan; Dinesh Kumar Sunuwar of Rasnalu -2, Ramechhap and Thakur Rajbanshi of Sanischare-9, Jhapa, have been sent home, the embassy said in a statement.
They were stuck in the Malaysian capital for failing to manage air tickets.
Malaysia is one of the favoured destinations for Nepali migrant workers. There were 411,364 documented Nepali migrants working in the Southeast Asian country until November last year, according to government data. However, the number could up as there are many Nepali workers who are undocumented, such people are vulnerable to exploitation.
The embassy said it will continue efforts to reach out to those Nepalis who are stranded in Malaysia and would do the needful to facilitate their return to Nepal.
