The bombs were found at the house of CPN (Maoist Centre)’s mayor candidates Durga Dutta Dhungana's house in Gaidakot-8 and Dansiram Bashyal's residence in Kawasoti-15. Dhungana has announced his candidacy from Gaidakot and while Bashyal from Kawasoti municipalities.
Similarly, a sutali bomb was found from UML Madhyabindu municipality mayor candidate Bhimlal Adhikari's house in Madhyabindu. Local Ghanashyam Dhakal said the perpetrators slipped away on the darkness of the night after locals knew about their attempt to explode the bomb at Adhikari's house.
Police suspected all the bombs might have been planted on Wednesday night. Though sketchy, police said the explosives might have been planted by Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist. Police said they have increased surveillance on Chand's cadres following the incident.
Nepal Army bomb disposal team has disposed all the bombs from the candidates' houses.
Local administration has made an appeal to the public to inform the police if they know about any suspicious activities happening in their locality. District police said they were very vigilant about providing security to the voters and a joint security team has been mobilised in the polling stations.
