In Nuwakot, a Scorpio (Ba 11 Cha 3499) belonging to Nepali Congress (NC) candidate was set on fire at Shivalaya area. The vehicle that was being used in election publicity campaign by Ram Krishna Thapa, the NC candidate for Shivapuri Village Council chief, was set on fire, said police. The vehicle was parked on the premises of Thapa’s house.
Superintendent of Police Dev Bahadur Bohara said the front part of the vehicle was damaged in the incident. No suspect was arrested as of Saturday.
Locals said the NC and the CPN-UML supporters had had a heated argument on Friday.
Similarly in Dhading, a vehicle used in the UML election campaign was torched at Thankre Village Council on Saturday morning. A jeep with the registration number Ba 9 Cha 8929 was set on fire by an unknown group while it was parked outside the house of Raj Kumar Poudel, the UML candidate for ward chairman of in Thankre-2.
