Lama elected unopposed as Manang’s Narphu Village Council Chair
A Nepali Congress (NC) candidate has been elected unopposed as the chairperson of Narphu Village Council of Manang district.A Nepali Congress (NC) candidate has been elected unopposed as the chairperson of Narphu Village Council of Manang district.
According to a source at the office of election officer in Manang, Mingma Chhiring Lama, 43, was the only candidate to vie for the post of chairperson of the Village Council.
The nomination of candidates for the upcoming local level elections was held in Province 3, 4 and 6 in the country on Tuesday.
Similarly, all the nominees for ward chairpersons and members were also elected unopposed. There are five wards in the village council which has a total of 362 voters. The NC candidates were elected unopposed from ward 1 to 3 while the independent nominees won in ward 4 and 5.
However, for the post of vice chairperson of the Village Council, two candidates—Phurpa Jompa Lama from the NC and an independent candidate Konjo Tenjing Lama—have registered their nominations.
It is learnt that locals are holding talks to elect the vice-chairman unopposed by withdrawing one of the candidates.
