Final hearing on IG case postponed
The final hearing of the case on seniority of the Deputy Inspector General’s of Nepal Police scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed.The final hearing of the case on seniority of the Deputy Inspector General’s of Nepal Police scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed.
The Supreme Court was expected to give the final verdict on the case filed by DIG Nawa Raj Silwal on April 11 challenging the Cabinet decision to appoint Prakash Aryal as new Inspector General. Silwal, in his petition, has argued that there have been irregularities in assessing the performance of the IG candidates.
However, a forensic report of Nepal Police, shows Silwal had doctored his performance evaluation report superimposing the marks obtained by Aryal in his report.
The SC had asked Public Service Commission to submit the copy of evaluation report kept secret with it. With mystery over the performance evaluation was expected to get resolved with the report at PSC becoming public in the final hearing. The next hearing has not yet been fixed.
With Chief Justice Sushila Karki on suspension Gopal Parajuli is leading the SC as acting chief. The chief has absolute authority to fix the benches for the cases.
