CPN-UML lashes at ruling parties for impeachment motion against CJ

CPN-UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai condemned the impeachment motion against Karki and accused the ruling parties of abusing the power of lawmakers. “It is just a waste of time,” he said, “The CPN-UML would fight against it with all its might.”
Saying that Karki is an eligible, courageous and competent candidate for the CJ post, leader Bhattarai said the government has showed its disrespect to entire Nepali women by the move. He further charged that the government has been rehearsing for “undemocratic and authoritarian rule” by intervening in constitutional bodies one after another.
CPN-UML leader and former Minister for Law Agni Kharel remarked that the impeachment against CJ Karki is an attempt to push the country towards instability and anarchy. “It’s an attempt to subvert the state mechanism,” he said. “The impeachment motion was registered against the chief justice who has been handling the case of Nepal Police chief’s appointment case.”
He further said that the motion was motivated by the intention to divert the public attention and foil the election.
