The students’ unions protesting against the recent tuition hike in private schools have decided to continue their stir, claiming that government did not take any initiative to make the Private and Boarding Schools’ Organization Nepal (Pabson) and the Nepal Pabson roll back their decision. 

As the first round of protest started by eight students’ unions ended on Thursday, they have announced to continue and intensify their dissent until May 1.

Vice-president of Nepal Students’ Union Ram Prasad Adhikari said on Thursday that the students’ unions will padlock all the education departments and education offices across the country on Friday, boycott Education Minister, high-level officials of the Ministry, officials of the Pabson and the N-Pabson on April 30, and obstruct public vehicles on May 1, as part of their protest.

The agitating students’ unions have already padlocked more than 100 schools in Kathmandu Valley to protest the tuition hike.

Meanwhile, the Department of Education has called for a meeting of the Central Fee Fixation and Monitoring Committee on Friday to resolve the issue.
