Newly formed Sajha Party has decided to field former Secretary and campaigner of the Bagmati Clean-up Campaign Kishor Thapa for as its mayoral candidate of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

“We are very excited that Thapa, a man with multidimensional capabilities, agreed to file his candidacy for the post of mayor of the Kathmandu Valley,” the party said in a statement on Friday.

Thapa, an architect engineer, will contest the local elections as an independent candidate, it is learnt.

Thapa has worked at the Ministry of Urban Development and the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation as a secretary.

Thapa was working as an international expert for National Residential Policy Making of Myanmar before joining the Rabindra Mishra-led party.

Master’s Degree holder in urban planning, Thapa will soon pick deputy mayor to help him in his works, the statement read.
