A group of unidentified assailants opened fire at Dawa Lama, a gangster who is on the most wanted list of Police, at Bouddha in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
The police have informed that Lama was shot three times when he was entering the Bouddha-based fitness club early this morning.
Lama has sustained bullet injuries to his abdomen and is receiving medical attention at Jorpati-based Nepal Medical College, Metropolitan Police Range spokesperson SP Pradhyumna Karki said.
The notorious don was listed on the top most wanted list of Nepal Police and was kept under surveillance.
Lama had also served some time in jail for extortion from Lalitpur-based businessman Rajan Shrestha and assaulting a Durbarmarg-based night-club owner Ram Giri.
