Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ajaya Shankar Nayak put forth the proposal seeking permission for withdrawing the second constitution amendment bill. The proposal was endorsed by the House meeting today.
The government is preparing to register a new proposal on constitution amendment bill in a bid to address the concerns of the Madhes-based parties before the local level elections. It has been learnt that the new amendment bill has a provision of forming a permanent federal commission to decide on the thorny issues of provincial boundaries.
Earlier on January 8, a constitution amendment bill was tabled in the Parliament that sought to split Province 2. But the proposal was objected by the main opposition CPN-UML.
