Senior leader Prakash Chandra Lohani, who parted ways with the recently unified Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), on Wednesday announced the formation a new party under his chairmanship.Senior leader Prakash Chandra Lohani, who parted ways with the recently unified Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), on Wednesday announced the formation a new party under his chairmanship.
Lohani’s party has been named Ekikrit Rastriya Prajatantra Party Rastrabadi with Keshar Bahadur Bista as the senior leader and 71-member strong central committee.
The party is all set to register at the Election Commission (EC) today. However, the EC has urged the party to come for registration after completing the due process saying that the dates for local level elections have been announced and election code of conduct has come into effect.
Lohani had quit the RPP over differences on the election symbol of the party. The two splinter parties—RPP and RPP-Nepal—had agreed to pick plough as the election symbol after the party unification. However, the unified party under incumbent Chairman Kamal Thapa, after the general convention, decided to adopt for cow as the party’s election symbol.
