Prime Minister Balendra Shah arrived in New York on Wednesday to lead Nepal’s delegation to the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Shah was received at John F Kennedy International Airport by Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Lok Bahadur Thapa, along with other Nepali diplomats.

The prime minister is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Wednesday. He will also attend a reception hosted by Nepal’s mission in New York.

Shah is scheduled to address the General Assembly on September 24, with Nepal expected to highlight climate change and the country’s call for climate justice following the devastating Bhotekoshi floods.
