Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) cadres organised a gherao at Saptari District Election Office in Rajbiraj on Tuesday. The protest has affected the preparations being done for the local level elections.

A huge number of security personnel from Nepal Police and Armed Police Force under Saptari Police Chief SP Anurag Dwivedi and APF SP Ramadhar Yadav, have been deployed in the area in order to avoid any untoward incidents.

Central leaders of parties affiliated with the SLMM are also taking part in the protest saying that they will not let the government to hold local polls under current circumstances.

Morcha’s Saptari coordinator said that the picket will end after 5pm.
