Two inmates have died of cancer in the last four days at the District Prison, Bharatpur.
On March 22, inmate Arjun Giri, 35, of Sindhuli died of cancer following which Thagraj Poudel of Rupandehi died on Saturday, according to Jailer Kamal Kafle said.
Giri was suffering from lung cancer and died in course of treatment at Bharatpur Hospital. He was serving a sentence of a decade on charges of committing a rape. He was sentenced three years ago. He was transferred to Chitwan from Ramechhap some months ago after suffering from cancer.
Poudel, on the other hand, was transferred from Palpa jail to Bharatpur prison. A total of 30 inmates have died in the last five years in Bharatpur prison alone. RSS
