Man in his late 20s held after major drug seizure in Dharan

Police nabbed Nabin Gurung, 28, a permanent resident of of Deurali in Dharan-5, in possession of 2200 ampoules of diazepam, lupigesic and avil tablets on Thursday.
According to Koshi Zonal Police Chief SSP Uttam Kumar Karki, the drug dealer was held following the launch of “operation delta” targeting Dharan. Police launched the operation in all six districts of Koshi to crackdown on supply and sale of narcotics, hooliganism, smuggling, among other illegal activities five days ago.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a search at his rented room in Pindeshowri Chok of Dharan-15 and found the drugs hidden inside a pressure cooker carton. He was a tenant at the house owned by Dick Bahadur Shrestha.
Gurung was presented before the Sunsari District Court to extend his judicial remand for investigation. It has been learnt that Gurung brought the drugs to Dharan for sale after his Indian agents managed to pass them through Biratnagar customs, police said.
Meanwhile, Police have arrested one Kishor Adhikar, a resident of Jhapa district’s Damak municipality-14, with seven ampoules of diazepam, 7 ampoule of phenergan, and 7 ampoules of buprenorphine. He has been detained at Area Police Office Sijuwa for investigation.
