In Birgunj, the streets and lanes across turned into a large playground where people of all faiths threw colored powder and water at each other. Only few vehicles were seen on the roads.
No Holi charm in Saptari
RAJBIRAJ: The Holi celebration remained a low-key in Saptari district this year. Unlike in the previous years, fewer people turned up to mark the festival as some people did not observe the festival to mourn the deaths of five persons in police’s indiscrimate firing on demonstrators at Maleth on March 6.
The Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) activists did not observe Holi in protest of the incident.
Meanwhile, 40 SLMM supporters shaved their head en masse in Rajbiraj, the district headquarters of Saptari.
