UML resumes Mechi-Mahakali campaign from Hetauda

The election campaign of the main opposition party was postponed after five persons were killed in police shootings during a political demonstration staged by the supporters of Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) at Maleth on Monday. On Friday, the UML organised a mass meeting at a school ground in Hetauda-4 despite the banda enforced by the SLMM.
Addressing the crowd, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli said that the behaviour displayed by the coalition government and the SLMM in the wake of the Saptari incident would cost them come election time. Oli also claimed that the UML cadres were facing security threat in the Tarai region after what happened in Saptari.
