Over a dozen NSU students injured in attack by ANNFSU
Over a dozen students were injured after a clash ensued between Nepali Congress (NC) aligned Nepal Students Union (NSU) and CPN-UML aligned All Nepal National Free Student Union (ANNFSU) at the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS) in Sundar Bazaar, Lamjung district on Monday.Over a dozen students were injured after a clash ensued between Nepali Congress (NC) aligned Nepal Students Union (NSU) and CPN-UML aligned All Nepal National Free Student Union (ANNFSU) at the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS) in Sundar Bazaar, Lamjung district on Monday.
According to NSU district president Shiva Naral, the ANNFSU students launched an attack leaving the NSU students injured.
Deependra Regmi, Aakriti Khanal, Gokul Kandel, Kiran Bastola, Nawaraj Dhakal, Haris Bhatta, Ram Hari Lamichhane, Sanjaya Kafle, Isha Poudel, Sita Acharya, Sudeep Khanal, and Pranjal Rijal, among other students of NSU were injured in the attack. The NSU students condemned the attack saying that the ANNFSU did not spare even women.
Deependra Regmi, who has sustained a serious injury on his head, has been taken to Maharajgunj-based Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu, while Aakriti and Gokul are receiving medical attention at Karmada Hospital in Sundar Bazaar. Naral said all the injured students were supporter of NSU.
DSP Samir Chandra Kharel confirmed that eight students were injured and Deependra has been taken to the Capital for treatment.
Chief District Officer Mohan Bahadur GC said all the ANNFSU students have been escorted to the district headquarters Beshisahar considering the security vulnerability following the confrontation.
Preparations are underway to hold talks between leaders of respective mother parties, GC said.
A joint statement issued by NSU and CPN (Maoist Centre) aligned All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary stated that eight NSU students were injured in an attack by ANNFSU.
