Two women died when a truck hit a scooter they were riding near Balaju Machhapokhari in Kathmandu on Friday.
Police said the scooter (Ba 77 Pa 3208) heading towards Balaju was hit from behind by a truck (Na 5 Cha 8465), killing the rider and the pillion. Rinakumari Rai, 38, of Manhari-5 in Makwanpur, and Sonima Thapa Magar, 35, of Khalte-6, Dhading, died in the accident, police said.
The duo injured critically after the accident succumbed on their way to hospital, Sub-inspector Gokarna Nepal informed.
Police have impounded the truck while the driver has absconded.
