The Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to stay a Cabinet decision of sacking Sushil Gyewali from the post of chief executive officer of the National Reconstruction Authority, allowing Govind Pokhrel to carry out his duties.
The government on January 11 had sacked Gyewali, who was appointed head of the NRA in December 2015, for failing to perform. A week later, Gyewali had moved the court.
A division bench of Justices Jagadish Sharma Poudel and Hari Krishna Karki on Tuesday, however, declined to issue a stay order, allowing Pokhrel to continue to work as the NRA chief until the case is finalised. (PR)
