A 17-year-old girl from India was reportedly gang-raped by five youths at Sishaughari in Pakadi VDC, Kapilvastu, on February 8.

The incident came to light after the perpetrators shared the video of the crime on social networking sites.

Superintendent of Police Bhoj Jung Shah said they have taken two suspects into custody.

Six youths were involved in the incident. “Of them, five boys can be identified in the video. One of the accused was filming the incident and his face is not visible,” said SP Shah.

The girl, who hails from Siddhartha Nagar in India, was visiting her maternal uncle in Kapilvastu with her family when the incident took place.

The family, who moved to Bhairahawa after the incident, returned to Kapilvastu after police assured to  provided them security and capture the perpetrators.  (PR)
