Rajbiraj
A clash broke out between police personnel and Madhesi Morcha cadres in Rajbiraj of Saptari on Friday after the latter tried to foil the second national conference of Nepal Revolutionary Farmers’ Association, the peasant wing of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP).
Accusing the NWPP of being anti-Madhes and anti-federalists, the Morcha cadres this morning carried out various activities to obstruct the convention.
Following the incident, police detained around 50 cadres of the Morcha.
NWPP Chairman Narayanman Bijukchhe was supposed to inaugurate the programme, but he cancelled it after the incident.
It has been learnt that security has been beefed up in the area to avert any untoward incident.
