A 17-year-old was found dead at the Kuse Ausi Jungle in Simpani-7 of Khotang district on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Rita Tamang of Lichkiramce-8 of the district.

Police suspect that the girl might have been murdered after gang rape.

Tamang used to work at the restaurant owned by Shiva Khadka in Simpani Bazaar.

According to DSP Nabin Kishor Pradhan, a police team under the command of Inspector Kiran Gurung had already reached the incident site and started an investigation.

Police said that they have arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in the murder.

The body has been handed over to the family members after conducting postmortem at the District Hospital, Udayapur.
