Govt extends tenure of TRC, CIEDP by a year
The government on Thursday extended the tenure of Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and the Commission of Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons (CIEDP) by a year.The government on Thursday extended the tenure of Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and Commission of Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons (CIEDP) by a year.
A Cabinet meeting held today made the decision to that effect, Minister for Defence Bal Krishna Khand informed.
The government extended the tenure after the commissions failed to complete the tasks with in the given time frame.
The terms of both the commissions had expired on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the government did not take other decisions like to appoint Inspector General of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force and ambassadors of 13 countries , though it was supposed to take the decisions today.
Minister Khand informed that the next meeting of the Cabinet has been scheduled for February 12.
According to a source, the government might take the decisions to appoint the IGs of both the security agencies and ambassadors on the same day.
Minister Khand informed that the meeting did not take the decisions today citing lack of preparation.
