A three-year-old boy was found murdered near his house at Pato VDC-6 in Saptari on Sunday evening.
The body of Ram Abatar Mandal was found in a sack behind his house.
Police said the boy’s aunt, Urmila Devi Mandal, admitted to throttling him to death over a dispute with his mother, Chandrika Devi.
Urmila Devi and Chandrika Devi, according to their neighbours, were involved in a bitter dispute for the past few months.
Police Inspector Bijaya Shrestha said Urmila Devi murdered the boy out of spite for his mother.
“Urmila Devi had murdered the boy while his parents were away. She had wrapped the body with a sari, put it in a sack and hid it among the bush,” Shrestha said, adding that it was Urmila Devi’s children who led the police to the body.
