At an interaction programme organised here in the Capital on Friday by the Development Communication Society Nepal (SODEC-Nepal), Commission Chair Poudel said the government could only alter wards and headquarters under the local body in accordance with its recommendation.
It may be noted that the LBRC on January 6 had come up with the report fixing total 719 local bodies in the country. He however said constitutionally the government could roll back the report to the Commission and get re-recommendation furnished for the same.
The Council of Ministers' decision on Thursday had formed a task force headed by Local Development Minister Hitraj Pandey to present report taking stock of the working mandate given to the Commission and complaints received on the report recommendations.
Chairperson Poudel shared that as they have completed around 80 per cent of the task on the report, remaining tasks would be completed by coming mid-March.
On the occasion, former Chairperson of Association of District Development Committees of Nepal (ADDCN) Krishna Prasad Sapkota noted the need to discuss the economic, social and cultural rights in special preserved and autonomous areas side by side.
