Westerly disturbance causes rains, snowfall
With the sudden change in local weather due to western disturbance, several parts of the country witnessed light showers on Friday. Officials at the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) attribute the cloudy weather to westerly low-pressure system that entered the western part of the country since Thursday evening.
According to meteorologist at MFD, Suwash Rimal, the current weather system originated from the equatorial region moved to Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Jammu Kashmir, and Uttarakhand and before entering Far-West Nepal.
“The entire nation from mountain to Tarai was affected due to the system’s powerful impact,” said meteorologist Rimal, “Many areas of the country have been seeing rainfall.”
He added though the westerly wind is moving towards East it has remained focused in the region surrounding Pokhara, Kaski. Many parts of the nation are expected to receive rainfall on Friday night as well, added. “But the weather is likely to improve from Saturday,” Rimal added.
