Ruling parties afraid of polls: Nepal
CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has said the ruling parties are afraid of holding elections in the country.CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has said the ruling parties are afraid of holding elections in the country. He claimed the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN (Maoist Centre) were against going to the people anytime soon after realising their unpopularity and decreasing vote base.
During a press meet organised in Pokhara on Monday, the UML leader said the three tiers elections would implement the constitution and move the country forward. “The elections will resolve constitutional crisis and rescue country from the political impasse,” he added.
Underscoring the need to hold all three tiers of elections by January 21, 2018, the former prime minister charged the government with hatching conspiracy to delay the polls. He also termed the present government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal as incompetent as it could not formulate necessary election-related laws so far.
In another context, Nepal said the constitution amendment bill would not be endorsed as a number of ruling parties’ lawmakers were against the proposal. “Some parliamentarians of the ruling alliance are nationalists. They love country and they are loyal to the people of Province 5,” said Nepal, urging all the lawmakers to protect the country.
