Metropolitan Police Crime Division has arrested three Chinese nationals with foreign currency worth Rs44 million from Kathmandu on Saturday.
The smugglers carrying the illegal currency were caught at Nagdhunga check post at 2:15 am today. It was found that the Chinese were headed for Kerung in Rasuwa district in a tourist vehicle.
It is learnt the Chinese were carrying US dollar, Euro and Swiss franc. Police suspect the illegal currency might be connected to gold smuggling cases. Today itself, police confiscated 15 kg of illegal gold brought from Kerung.
MPCD SSP Sarvendra Khanal said the police is investigating the case.
