The leaders from the ruling alliance—CPN (Maoist Centre) and Nepali Congress—and Madhesi Morcha during a meeting called by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at Baluwatar in the Capital agreed to play a positive role in passing the revised amendment bill, informed CPN (MC) spokesperson Pampha Bhusal.
Leader Bhusal further informed that PM Dahal, during the meet, urged the political parties to make way to hold successful local elections by passing the amendment and election related bills tabled at the parliament.
Emerging out from the meeting, Sanghiya Samajwadi Forum Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav said that the party cannot go to local elections without the passing of the amendment bill.
Meanwhile, the government is trying to forge an agreement with the ruling alliance, supporting parties and main opposition CPN-UML to announce the dates for local elections within a few weeks.
