Govt trying to bring UML onboard: Minister Thapa
Health Minister Gagan Thapa has said that government is making efforts to bring the main opposition CPN-UML onboard the constitution amendment process.Health Minister Gagan Thapa has said that government is making efforts to bring the main opposition CPN-UML onboard the constitution amendment process. He claimed the amendment bill will be endorsed anyhow.
Speaking in a programme organised by his party Nepali Congress in Kavre on Monday, the minister said, "UML has openly said it is against the amendment bill, however, our effort to induct it in the process will continue. Constitution will be amended by garnering required number."
Minister Thapa claimed the local elections will be conducted by the end of April. "Local Body Restructuring Commission has already submitted its report. It will be implemented once it gets published in a national gazette following its technical analysis," said the minister. He instructed leaders and cadres to prepare for the election.
Lashing out at the UML, he said the party that has accused NC of being anti-national is itself on the path of disintegrating the country.
"By talking disintegration, UML has created doubts among Madhesi people. This will serve nothing except short term political interest of UML," said the NC leader. "By speaking lies, UML might win the elections but be aware that will be totally anti-national."
On a different context, Thapa said he is not satisfied by the endeavours of National Reconstruction Authority in post-earthquake reconstruction activities.
