Claiming that the report has cases related to several leaders of major political
parties, Koirala said it was necessary to publicise the so-called report to “tame” the politicians.
“If Lokman has to go so be it. But the system will have to be allowed to work. If that isn’t the case, politicians like us will have no fear,” Koirala said during a programme in the Capital on Monday.
As many as 157 lawmakers from the CPN (Maoist Centre) and the CPN-UML registered the impeachment motion against Karki at the Parliament Secretariat on October 19. The NC, whose vote would be decisive in passing or rejecting the motion, has said it would take a decision on the issue once the impeachment recommendation committee presents its findings. Koirala asserted that Karki’s “report”, which is yet to be disclosed, has found leaders from the NC, the Maoist Centre and the UML engaged in corruption.
“In that case, we should not be running away from the CIAA chief. In fact, if my name is on the list, I will also face it,” said Koirala.
