The police team involved in a search for 21 statues stolen from Chandannath Baba Temple on Nov 26 came across two men in possession of eight automatic weapons on Sunday.
The weapons were made public along with the arrestees Vedan Raj Thapa and Kamal Raj Thapa on Monday. DSP Guru Bishnu Kafle said Vedan Raj was arrested from Kathmandu while Kamal Raj was arrested from Nepalgunj. The duo was caught with two BN 6465 – 2967 sub automatic SLR, Indian Army Code no 1000 C Plus LST 1.65 MN automatic pistol, another automatic pistol, a five-bullet revolver, six-bullet revolver, two pistols, seven detonators among magazines and bullets. Police suspect the weapons could have been stolen during the armed insurgency. (RSS)
