Tiwari’s hunger strike enters 16th day
The hunger strike of Bikas Tiwari, chairman of Nepal Sadbhawana Party (Gajendrawadi), entered its 16th day on Thursday.The hunger strike of Bikas Tiwari, chairman of Nepal Sadbhawana Party (Gajendrawadi), entered its 16th day on Thursday. Tiwari is staging the protest fast on the premises of Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital in Rajbiraj, the district headquarters of Saptari, demanding reforms in the hospital.
“This hunger strike is my campaign for public benefit,” Tiwari said. “It is driven by a collective interest and I will continue till the demands are fulfilled.”
Meanwhile, the Rajbiraj youths took out a rally, for the third consecutive day, to press the authorities concerned to address Tiwari’s demands.
On Wednesday, a team from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) had visited Tiwari to inquire about his condition.
The NHRC has drawn the government’s attention to Tiwari’s condition and called for an immediate resolution of the situation through dialogue.
