Former Minister ShyamSundar Gupta has been arrested yet again on extortion charge from Lalitpur on Monday.

Lalitpur Police chief SSP Pitamber Adhikari said that Gupta has been taken into custody after the court granted permission to take him in judicial custody for four-day.

According to spokesperson at District Police Office, Lalitpur, Ishwor Karki, preliminary investigation has shown that Gupta himself made telephone calls to extort money and issued threats of abduction if the money was not paid.  

Before this, Gupta, who is a former minister for supplies, was arrested for masterminding the abduction of businessman PawanSanghai. He was released on July 18, 2015 after doing time for three and a half years. Gupta had formed Sadbhawana Party United.
