32 accident-prone spots along Narayangadh-Muglin road stretch identified

The Central Regional Police in Hetauda has declared 32 places along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section as the most accident prone.
The 25-km road stretch between Jugedi and Muglin is identified as at high risk of landslides and road accidents. Deputy Inspector General of Police Pashupati Upadhaya said they have notified the Department of Roads to repair the dilapidated road sections immediately. “The road accidents have increased due to bad road conditions and negligence of drivers,” said Upadhaya.
The District Police Office has started an initiative to construct the road infrastructure after identifying the accident prone areas along the road section. Superintendent of Police Basanta Kunwar said Gaighat, Ghumaune, Kalikhola, Charkilo Height, Panch kilo, Bhalupahad Ghumti, Bhorlepul and Jalbire are among the most-accident prone areas along the under-construction section of the. The road is being widened under the Nepal-India Regional Trade and Transport Project. The road section handles the heaviest traffic load in the country, accounting for 90 percent of Nepal’s total international trade traffic. More than 20,000 vehicles ply the highway every day.
Trishuli bus crash: 10 still missing
Families of 10 people, who were the passengers on the bus that fell into Trishuli River last week, have filed a report requesting to carry out a fresh search for their loved ones. Three more bodies were recovered from Meghauli and Triveni barrages two days ago, taking the toll in the bus accident to 25.
The bus which was en route to Pokhara from Rautahat had plunged nearly 200 metres down the road into the river at Chandibhanjyang-6 along the Muglin-Narayangadh road section.
