Bijaya Kumar Shrestha, a civil society representative in the district, said when he and his team tried to take relief supplies to Arkha village two days after it was devastated by landslides, they could only get up to Macchi.
“Landslides had rendered the road impassable, we had to return,’ he said.
Landslides caused by heavy rain have blocked major roads and foot trails, cutting access to places like Phopli, Khawang, Lung, Khung, Arkha, Rajwara, Majhkot, Libang, Bangemarot, Damri and Ligha for the past one week.
The Nepal Army and the district office of Nepal Red Cross Society had airlifted some relief materials in the landslide-hit areas a few days ago.
Chief District Officer Janakraj Panta said they have requested the Ministry of Home Affairs to provide helicopters to ferry food and other emergency supplies to the affected areas.
Landslides have killed at least 38 people and displaced more than 400 families in Pyuthan this year.
