UN top official submits letter of credentials
The newly appointed Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Nepal and the Resident Representative of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Valerie Julliand, presented her Letter of Credentials to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kamal Thapa, on Tuesday.
The newly appointed Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Nepal and the Resident Representative of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Valerie Julliand, presented her Letter of Credentials to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kamal Thapa, on Tuesday.
Upon assuming office in Nepal, Julliand said, “I am honoured by this opportunity to join the United Nations family in Nepal. I look forward to working closely with the Government of Nepal, national stakeholders and development partners towards our common goal of sustainable development for Nepal, leaving no one behind.”
She arrived in Nepal on June 30. Julliand, a French national, holds a Master’s degree in political science from the Institute d’Etudes Politiques, France and an MPhil in human resources management from the Institute de Gestion Sociale, France.
Prior to joining Nepal office, Julliand was UN resident coordinator and UNDP resident representative for Guatemala and Dominican Republic. She has also worked with the Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
