Police have arrested five individuals, returning from a funeral ceremony, on charges of covering up a murder from Danav river-based Bogdiyaghat in Rupandehi on Monday.
According to the District Police Office, the five individuals have been charged with murder of one Sunita Mallah of Sipwa VDC-6 and her unborn 8 month old child.
The police arrested Sunita’s husband, Shailesh Mallah, 26, father-in-law Ratan Mallah, 60, along with Shiva Das Kalwar, Shivad Mallah and Suraj Mallah for helping in organising the funeral to cover-up the crime.
The police claimed that Shailesh, in a drunken state, hit eight month old pregnant Sunita in her abdominal area when she was sleeping which led to her death.
