Chief of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC)'s Thankot depot, Rabin Sharma, has been arrested on Sunday for mishandling and misappropriating fuel that arrived inside the Valley.

A team from Metropolitan Police Crime Division arrested Sharma from outside his office in Thankot on Sunday evening.

Senior Superintendent of Police Sarbendra Khanal, Chief of the Division said they have arrested Sharma for interrogation after statements from people on fuel misappropriation by Sharma.

SSP Khanal said many statements from persons who were arrested for tampering fuel meter pointed fingers towards Sharma. 

Earlier on November 24, the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) had raided 19 fuel stations in Kathmandu Valley and found 13 petrol pumps duping customers by tampering with the meter.

According to MPCD, the petrol pumps were using tricks to dispense less fuel than the volume read by the meter.
