Former Home Minister Devendra Raj Kandel survived an assassination attempt on his life on Friday.
Two Indian sharp shooters tried to shoot Kandel with a homemade pistol at his hometown in Dubauliya VDC, Nawalparasi around 1:30 pm.
According to superintendent of police in Nawalparasi, Nal Prasad Upadhyay, the assassination attempt was staved off by Kandel’s bodyguards. His bodyguards grabbed the perpetrators before they could fire.
Police have detained two Indian citizens, Ujwal Gartaula and Jogendra Paswan with a homemade pistol. Facts about mastermind of the assassination attempt have not been diclosed yet.
